Remembering India
I wanted to share what I’ve been up to lately, besides reading lots of books! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed my posts about running in my Stories. Recently, I started a running regiment to train for running in a half marathon at the end of April. Historically, I hated running and was not very good at it (I’m still not, but I’m getting better!)
I’m driven to train for this race and to grow as a runner because I’m running in honor of my cousin India, who passed away from childhood cancer at five years old. With her memory at the forefront of my mind, I’ve been able to push through and keep going, when in the past I would have given up!
I’m stopping to remember India today because today would have been her 18th birthday. I remember her being absolutely full of life despite her battle with cancer. She was the happiest and most inviting kid that I knew. She always encouraged other kids in the hospital by telling them about Jesus, making gifts for them or singing Disney songs for them. She also was ahead of her time in that she LOVED taking selfies (which I am thankful for because I have so many beautiful pictures of her!) She was gentle and kind, she loved to love people and her giggle was absolutely contagious. Since she was generous with her time and love, I still think of her when I stop and talk to people. She was truly a ray of sunshine and she overflowed with joy.
Since today is India’s birthday, I thought it would be fun to share her story and to provide an opportunity for my friends and family to donate towards my goal of raising $1,000 in honor of her life. If you are interested in helping me meet my goal, please check out the link below. Every donation given is a tax-deductible donation to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital. The donation will help other children that have childhood cancer to kick cancer in the butt and to live a long and fulfilling life! Please consider partnering with me in honor of India!
